INPATIENT MEDICAL CODER
Responsible for accurate and complete collection of clinical information from medical records.
-Abstracts data and assigns appropriate ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 codes.
-Also, confirms DRG assignment.
-Assists physicians in continuing education relating to DRG assignments.
-Continually educates self to maintain and improve coding skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education: Minimum - High School or Equivalent.
Preferred - Associate's Degree in Medical Records Technology, Nursing, or other related field.
2. Experience: Required - 2 or more years working in an inpatient Medical Records Department,
3. Licensure:
Clinical Coding Specialist (C.C.S.), Registered Health Information Technologist (R.H.I.T.) or Registered Health Information Administrator (R.H.I.A.).
