The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist's role is essential to patient care.  The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist  is valued for applying knowledge and skills to deliver appropriate, safe, efficient, and cost effective pharmaceutical care in the scope of their particular assignment.  The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is instrumental in the care of patients, as well as the development of effective, professional relationships within the multidisciplinary team.  Acting as a resource to other staff members, the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will provide decentralized clinical pharmacy services throughout the hospital.

 Working directly with the health care team and patients to provide safe and effective pharmacy services. provides consultative services to medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff.  Ensures appropriate drug therapy, implements and monitors clinical protocols and guidelines, and enhances the delivery of evidence-based medicine.  Other responsibilities include education, representation on medical center committees, and collaboration on clinical initiatives.  Documents clinical activities and outcomes.  Provides prescribed medications and compounds according to professional standards and practice.  Prioritizes work demands.
