TITLE: Coding Outpatient Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for assisting coding Manager with outpatient functions. Provide training for new Coder Trainee’s.
Provide ongoing education for AMA’s CPT Assistant and AHA’s Coding Clinic for HCPCS.
Codes and abstracts ICD-9 and CPT codes for diagnosis and Procedures on inpatient and outpatient visits. Uses 3M encoder and grouper as well as verifies
codes in books. The coder will maintain a productivity log daily. The coder may interact with physicians as well as other health professionals.
Reviews records and combines codes as necessary in keeping with Medicare 3-day window policy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Computer experience required
Experience as a Coder II.
Extensive knowledge of CPT coding principles and guidelines.
CCS required and RHIT preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, communicates effectively with staff, physicians and other hospital personnel.
