WEDDLE’s User’s Choice Awards recognize the Web-sites that provide the best level of service and value to their visitors, and help others make the best use of the best employment resources online. We appreciate others feeling about us in this way, but we fully realize that there is lots of room for improvement, and we’re going to work on this.

We are in a sense partners with the companies and job seekers that use our site / services. Just like when a job seeker posts a resume to the database in an incorrect category, which upsets our employer clients, employers do things that upset job seekers as well.

When job seekers are upset:

Ø       They may not use the site / services again.

Ø       They may tell other people to do the same.

Ø       They often complain to me, or worse still, they may not complain to me, and complain to others instead.

I got his email this morning, so it’s still fresh in my mind. I like your site.  It would be better if you didn’t keep sending me the same job over and over and over and over and over and over and over.....

This happens because some companies constantly refresh their jobs to send them out in job search agents. This is a great idea from time to time, as it gives you a fresh boost of activity. However, some companies take it too far, and do this too often, which upsets job seekers, and reflects negatively on both their company, and our site. It’s very unfair that we get blamed when clients handle themselves in an inconsiderate manner, but that’s the reality, so we need to be sensitive to it.

Employers do other things that are upsetting to job seekers (and sometimes other employer clients) as well. Here are some examples:

ü       They post a job without a city, which is very upsetting to job seekers, as it causes them to waste a lot of time. We understand that recruiters, staffing companies, and travel companies often don’t want to put in the exact location due to confidentiality, but there are other ways of handling this which are better, which we discuss in our Absolutely Health Care University sessions: http://www.healthjobsusa.com/cgi-bin/gateway.cgi. We’d like companies to re-think their strategy, and do something different.

ü       Employers don’t maintain their jobs properly, and then tell a job seeker that responds to a job, that the job is not available.

ü       Please check to make sure you have put job postings in the correct categories. Everyone complains when job seekers post their resumes to wrong categories, but companies do it too. If you post your job to incorrect categories or to incorrect position types, not only will appropriate job seekers not find the jobs, but they are sent out in Job Search Agents to inappropriate people, who again tend to get a bit upset.

ü       Many recruiters, staffing companies, and travel companies run draw ads, as they are always looking for a certain type of job seeker. We have no problem with this, as long as your posting explains this. However, many companies don’t, and we get complaints from job seekers that companies are posting bogus jobs. If a posting is a real job, make it look that way. If a posting is a draw ad, make it look that way. Don’t make a draw ad look like a real job, and get the job seekers upset when they find out that it isn’t.

ü       Take pride in your postings. Some companies put almost no information in their postings, and then wonder why no one responds. As the saying goes garbage in, garbage out. We give you unlimited content, so take advantage of that, and do a good job of selling your opportunities.

ü       Check your postings for accuracy. Some companies will post the same opening in Detroit, Phoenix, and Miami, and when using our multi-location posting option, they’ll put in a city description for Detroit, and forget to change it in the Phoenix and Miami postings. Therefore, we’ll get complaints from job seekers wondering where the job really is, and they can really get very nasty, as their time is being wasted.

ü       We still get complaints about companies that send out email blasts without doing any pre-screening, and sending inappropriate opportunities to job seekers. We realize that much of this is the job seeker’s fault, as they post their resume to inappropriate categories, and we can help you pre-screen for this before sending out an email blast by doing keyword searches. To learn how to do this, attend Absolutely Health Care University. Information on the University is contained on the login page: http://www.healthjobsusa.com/cgi-bin/gateway.cgi

ü       For companies that receive Rehab/Med/Nuse Options candidate profiles, please pay attention to what the person says they want. We understand suggestive selling, but realize that for every job seeker you successfully suggestively sell, you upset 10 others for wasting their time with something that they weren’t interested in. In the long run, those people won’t use our service again, and that ruins it for everyone.

ü       Some companies post 20 Physical Therapist openings in the same city, with 20 copies of the same posting. This is ridiculous. If you truly have 20 openings in a city for the same type of candidate, each of the postings should be different. If the postings are all the same, you only need 1 posting, not 20, as this is just gumming up our system, and giving you an unfair advantage versus our other clients that don’t do this.

ü       The same thing can be said for companies that post the same job under:

v      (no city listed), AL

v      Alabama, AL

v      All Cities In, AL

v      Pick one way, and post it that way. Don’t post the same job all 3 ways.

I’m sure there are other things that I haven’t though of, but these all immediately popped into my mind.

If our clients want our resources to continue to provide the most bang possible for the money we charge, they need to think about their consequences of their actions. There are many people out there that just think of themselves, and don’t look at the big picture, and the fact that one bad apple can spoil the bunch.

Therefore, we are creating a new philosophy this year called "For The Good Of The Service".

It will work very simply. We have given you some areas above that we consider problem areas. We want the ownership of each of our clients to look into your practices in using our site / services, and take whatever steps are necessary to clean up these problem areas.

We also ask our clients to let us know about any companies you see that you feel are not behaving in a way that will be "For The Good Of The Service".

In the next 30 to 60 days, any company we see that still is behaving in a way that we feel is not "For The Good Of The Service" will be notified. If this notification is not acted upon satisfactorily, the company may not be allowed to renew their subscription. We will lose some clients over this, but this is OK with me, as I realize that we have far more to gain by adding clients that will reflect positively on our site / services, than we'll lose by not renewing clients that don't. There will be some flexibility here, as some companies might be doing certain things for certain acceptable reasons. However, the golden rule we'll use when deciding whether to offer renewal is whether a company's overall behavior is "For The Good Of The Service". If the answer is "no", then they will not be allowed to renew.

Any feedback on what I’ve had to say is greatly appreciated. We are not looking to be unreasonable. We are looking to protect our client’s interests, our interests, and make our site / service more enjoyable for job seekers to use, so they will continue to use it.

Sincerely,

Ken Levinson

President
