Maxim Health Information Services is seeking a Remote Coding Manager for Cleveland/Remote position.
Each Coding Manager will be assigned one or more Medical Centers to manage. The Coding Manager's general purpose is to: -Ensure client's expectations are met in accordance with Medical Center policies and procedures -Oversee all staff assigned to the Medical Center while ensuring work is completed in a timely and compliant manner -Serve as liaison to the facility(s) HIM and Business Office staff in resolving identified problems/issues -Perform preliminary and routine audits on coding staff at each site managed -Respond to questions from assigned coding staff -Orient new staff as per the New Coder Orientation Policy -Maintain and adhere to HIPAA privacy and security standards -Communicate any and all concerns regarding client and/or staff to Remote Operations Manager and Director of HIM Services
Responsibilities: 1.Manage each Medical Center, including communicating and resolving issues identified by the HIM and Business Office staff. All client-identified issues will be addressed and/or resolved within 24 hours of receipt (excluding weekends). Communicate with the Director of HIM Services for assistance when needed. 2.Participate in calls with all new customers to identify needs and request all applicable facility policies and procedures 3.Work with Remote Operations Manager to get access set up at new sites and for all new coders 4.Train new coders on site specifics and accessing client's IT systems 5.Orient new coders as per the New Coder Orientation Policy 6.Perform preliminary and routine audits on coding staff at each site managed. Audit 100% of all new coders' work until a 95% accuracy is reached. Continue to audit 3-5% of each coder's work on a bi-weekly basis. Send audit results to Remote Operations Manager with a copy to the Director of HIM Services and General Manager. 7.Develop site-specific procedures for each Medical Center based on policies and procedures received from the Medical Center, along with other information communicated verbally and/or via e-mail. Post site-specific procedures on SharePoint and review and update, if necessary, at least on a quarterly basis. 8.Communicate requests for new projects received from Medical Center to Account Executive, Remote Operations Manager, and Director of HIM Services prior to starting 9.Respond to questions from coding staff, including applicable references, as appropriate. If further assistance is required, communicate with the Director of HIM Services. 10.Identify coding risks and/or client issues/problems proactively and make appropriate recommendations to the Director of HIM Services and/or Account Executive 11.Report any staffing needs to the Remote Operations Manager and General Manager 12.Review candidates submitted via MHIS Pass Sheet from recruiter. Select qualified candidates and interview according to the MHIS Interview Process 13.Complete weekly activity status reports and submit to the Remote Operations Manager and Director of HIM Services every Monday by 2 p.m. eastern standard time 14.Complete weekly audit summaries and send to the Distribution Manager every Tuesday by 2 p.m. eastern standard time 15.Actively participate in weekly remote coding update conference calls 16.Demonstrate effective time management skills by completing assignments within time constraints, budget, and calendar schedules 17.Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, coding staff, and Maxim Corporate staff 18.Complete work assignments independently 19.Keep current with new laws, regulations, and guidelines related to coding 20.Seek guidance from the Director of HIM Services to complete any assigned task requiring further clarification 21.Engage in professional development activities to maintain professional certification(s) For more information about our job opportunities, please visit our website. http://www.maximhealthinformationservices.com

| Experience Required: |
Qualifications -Formal HIM education with national certification (RHIA, RHIT) and/or (CCS, CCS-P) coding certification required -Minimum of 5 years inpatient and outpatient hospital / physician coding experience -Minimum of 3 years inpatient and outpatient hospital / physician auditing experience (May be in conjunction with 5 years coding experience) -Previous management experience -Prefer someone with past auditing experience or strong training background in coding and reimbursement -Good oral and written communication skills |
