Description
The Health Information Management (HIM) Director implements and supports all corporate HIM activities by providing support to HIM departments at the facility level for department operations, reimbursement opportunitites, and various program implementation. General responsibilities include: performing hospital site visits to assess the efficiency of the HIM departments' operations, providing orientation and education for HIM staff at newly acquired facilties, providing ongoing support and monitoring of the facilities Patient Health Information Improvement Program (PHIIP), and coordinating hospital HIM functions with the clinical operations departments within the hospital to enhance the physician-hospital relationship. Strong leadership and communication skills are vital for this role.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED
Certifications / Licenses:
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred
Experience:
Minimum three years HIM management experience required
