Hospital broke ground in October 2005 on a $340 million dollar major capital expansion project that will enhance our services provided to the many diverse communities of the South Bay. Were building a new and improved state-of-the-art medical facility. Throughout the project, rest assured that the safety and well-being of our patients and their families is our first priority.Hospital overall expansion effort includes the addition of a new, two-story patient wing; four-story, 120,000-square-foot medical office building; a renovated emergency department; a new central plant; and an elevated heliport next to the trauma center/emergency department. In addition, the project will expand hospital''s intensive care unit with 10 new beds, redesign operating rooms especially for minimally invasive surgery, add an endoscopy suite, cardiac catheterization labs, new MRI facilities, dedicated CT scan and radiology areas and increased patient parking.

| Position Description: |
Assistant Director Critical Care Services
Provides clinical quality operational oversight to the Critical Care Services. Daily oversees the service to include coordination of services, case management, outcomes management, and education planning for staff competencies. Performs daily/monthly/on-going chart audits, rounding audits to include environment of care, NPSG, core measures, facility policy compliance. Works collaboratively with case management to oversee and drive LOS, appropriateness of care, and patient throughput. Acts as a mediator to the Administrative Director, Clinical Coordinator and staff to drive patient safety initiatives and core measure compliance. Participates in hospital committees, staff meetings, nursing leadership, and Practice Councils assigned by Administrative Director. Assists in assuring that appropriate standards of care, practice and performance, and policy and procedures are in place.

| Position Comments: |
POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinates total nursing care for patients, the patient population ranges in age from older adolescent to geriatric (14-99). Primary patient population served include those admitted for, acute neurological incidents, acute respiratory failure, MI, acute GI bleed, electrolyte imbalance, and patients post drug overdose. Promotes participation in patient/family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with members of the health care team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Participates in organizational and unit based quality improvement activities. This person assist with the implementation of the vision, mission, philosophy, evidence based practice, and standards in assigned areas. He/She role models leadership development, policy development, and decision-making among staff. The assistant department manager also provides continued guidance and direction to new employees. And provides input on standards of care, supplies and equipment to nursing manager/director. |

Qualifications
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: Current State RN License, BCLS, ACLS Preferred: CCRN, TNCC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: Two to four years of acute care nursing in a cardiovascular, trauma, or neurosurgical ICU. Demonstrated progressive leadership or clinical ladder roles/positions. Preferred: Five years ICU nursing with emphasis on trauma, neurosurgical, or cardiovascular care. Previous managerial experience EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: High School Graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN or related degree. Preferred: MSN or related degree KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Minimum: Ability to use critical thinking skills and prioritize aspects of daily activity of patient care; possesses good interpersonal communication skills. Ability to engage staff to participate in the hospitals mission. Ability to calculate medication dosages and safely administer medications within the critical care setting. |
