| Position Description: |
Under the general direction of the Unit Director and Charge Nurse, independently provides holistic, individualized care using the nursing process for patients routinely seen on the unit. Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. Independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills. Contributes to the Sierra View District Hospital Department of Patient Care Services and the nursing profession in a positive manner.Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served, i.e. Neo-Nate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs; possesses knowledge of growth and development; and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for these patient groups.

1. Is knowledgeable of interpretation of fetal monitor strips. 2. Is knowledgeable of Maternal/Fetal complications and nursing responsibilities. 3. Is knowledgeable of breathing and relaxation techniques, and ability to teach labor patients and support persons these methods. 4. Understands the stages of labor and nursing responsibilities during each stage. 5. Documents appropriate information on monitor strips (dates, times, nursing measures, etc.) and ensures each monitor strip is properly labeled with patient information. 6. Is informed of current developments in the nursing field and OB/Nursery. 7. Is knowledgeable of medications used in the OB/Nursery Unit, including Pediatric dosages.8. Functions as a Team Member in the Delivery Room. 9. Is knowledgeable of sterile technique in the Delivery Room.10. Performs physical assessment of the newborn.11. Is knowledgeable of Pediatric dosages when administering medications to the newborn.12. Utilizes appropriate anatomical sites for intermuscular.13. Functions as Team Member in the Operating Room during C-section, receiving baby with Pediatrician.14. Is knowledgeable of postpartum maternity complications.15. Demonstrates competency in caring for the postpartum patient.16. Is competent in assembling and using equipment such as: a. Oxygen supplies b. Oximeter c. Isolette d. Radiant Warmer e. Neonatal monitor f. Suction setups g. Catheters h. Neonatal emergency supplies i. Fetal Monitor17. Demonstrate knowledge of COBRA guidelines as evidenced by appropriate disposition of patient.18. Is NRP certified.19. Conducts hospital business in an ethical and lawful manner and recognizes they have an affirmative duty and responsibility for reporting perceived misconduct, including actual or potential violations of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or this organization's standards/code of conduct. |

BENEFIT SUMMARY
HEALTH INSURANCE BENEFITS –, HMO & PPO
Full-time and part-time are eligible for healthcare insurance. Coverage begins the first of the month following 30 days of employment and the employee’s enrollment.
Full-time employees are eligible for the employer paid HMO plan. Premium for all full-time employees and 50% of the dependent premium are paid by SVDH as well. The employee is responsible for paying the additional 50% of dependent premium. With proof of healthcare insurance, Full-time employees may elect to waive coverage and receive a cash reimbursement each pay period. Part-time employees pay the entire premium. Employees paid premiums are pre-taxed payroll deductions.
DENTAL INSURANCE –Full-time and part-time employees eligible for dental insurance. Coverage begins the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Employees paid premiums are pre-tax payroll deductions.
VISION INSURANCE –
Full-time and part-time employees are eligible for vision insurance. Coverage begins the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Employees paid premiums are pre-tax payroll deductions.
LIFE INSURANCE:
$10,000.00 for employees enrolled in Hospital’s Medical Plan. (Reduced to $3,500 at age 65)
Two times base annual salary if enrolled in the Pension Plan.
PAID TIME OFF (PTO): Accrues at 8.62 hours per pay period (every two weeks) These hours are used for illness protection, holidays and vacation. PTO increases at 5 and 10 years based upon years of service. Management positions will differ.
PENSION PLAN/TAX DEFERRED SAVINGS PLAN (457/401):
Employees who are full-time and part-time working at least 40 hours per pay period are eligible to begin contributions upon hire with immediate 100% vesting. After six (6) months from date of hire Employer will contribute 6% into (401 Plan) if employee contributes 4% of base salary into (457 Plan). After three (3)years of continuous participation, if employee contributes 10%, the employer will match that contribution with 10%.

LONG TERM CARE PLAN
Full-time employees working at least 72 hours per pay period and part-time employees working at least 36 hours per pay period are eligible to enroll. Full-time employees will automatically be enrolled in the LTC core benefit of $100 per day towards nursing, residential, home and community based care with option to increase benefit amount at employees expense. Eligible family members may also apply to enroll in the LTC plan whether or not the eligible employee applies.
