Early Childhood Intervention is a Texas state system of services and support for families of children aged birth through 3 years with: developmental delays; medical diagnoses that may result in developmental delays; and development that is atypical when compared with peers. ECI Advancing Babies Chances serves families in a five county area around Abilene, Texas.
ECI provides screenings and assessments to determine service needs at no cost to families. Every ECI enrolled family is eligible for a variety of services, which may include service coordination; developmental services; therapies; nursing services; nutrition services; social work services; or counseling services. All services are based on the unique needs of the child and family.
ECI services are provided where the child lives, plays and learns. Service settings could include the child's home, a childcare center or preschool, a relative's home, or other community setting.
ECI services are family centered. Families work together as a team with ECI professionals to plan appropriate services and developmental goals for their child. ECI professionals help the families learn the skills they need to help their children reach their goals.

| Position Description: |
This position operates within the five county service area. The position is responsible for evaluation for eligibility, therapy services, and assistive technology needs. This position will provide direct therapy services in addition to consultation for children receiving Developmental Services. Duties include: planning; periodic reassessment to determine progress; completing written progress notes and updates; and a full range of instruction and modeling for the child, caregiver, parent, and any others involved and/or concerned with the child's developmental progress. Other duties include parent education and supports to enable families to reinforce the strategies on their IFSP. The position operates within all applicable Center, Program, and funding source requirements, working under the supervision of the ECI Director with latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Professionalism in the position is mandatory.

| Experience Required: |
Requires a minimum of full Texas licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist. Some experience with the pediatric population desired. Must be computer savvy, possess positive interpersonal skills, and excellent written/oral communication skills. Must have the ability to function independently as well as within a team concept. Must be easily adaptable within a changing work environment, have solid organizational skills, work well in a non-traditional model of therapeutic intervention, and be task and detail oriented.
